The fun begins with the Friday Night Needs Assessment. Bringing together Philadelphians from all over the city, coders and non-coders alike, we’ll put our heads together to create project ideas.

Dawn McDougall, Executive Director, Code for Philly
Dawn took leadership at Code for Philly in early 2015, shifting the focus of the community towards developing solutions collaboratively with government and other civic-focused organizations. This approach starts a conversation around social issues and builds both digital and civic literacy in the process. By day, Dawn is a product marketing associate at GovDelivery, the leader in government digital communications.
Jane Slusser, Chief of Staff, Office of Mayor James F. Kenney, City of Philadelphia
Jane Slusser is Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Philadelphia. She previously ran Mayor Kenney’s mayoral campaign, served as Organizing Director at Equality Pennsylvania, and is a veteran of both President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. In between campaigns, she also helped launch social enterprise start-up Catchafire.

Saturday September 24rd (Project Design and Development; Team Hacking)
*The Project Kickstart is a ticketed event
After sign-in, breakfast and opening remarks, Saturday morning will feature a structured, but hands-on Project Kickstart Workshop. Through three mini-sprints, project teams will deeply engage with their community stakeholders as they define their problem space, understand their users, collaborate on ideas, and receive rapid solution feedback. The morning will conclude with both technical and project-oriented advice on how to build a successful hackathon project.

Tuesday October 25th: Project Demo Night
All teams are encouraged to come and present at the Project Demos and to attend the weekly Code for Philly Hack Night. Every Tuesday Code for Philly organizes an open space for groups and general hackers to physically meet and work together.
